Rifle found in Lanza's trunk not a Bushmaster

After two weeks of media reports that a .223 AR-15 Bushmaster was found in the trunk of Lanza's car, gun aficionados point out that the rifle is not a Bushmaster, nor an AR-15 class assault weapon. Washington Post: He had two semiautomatic pistols and a .223-caliber rifle, law enforcement officials said. He apparently used only the handguns, which were later found in the school. The rifle was found in the vehicle. CNN: Three weapons were recovered from the school: a semi-automatic .223 Bushmaster found in a car in the school parking lot, and a Glock and a Sig Sauer found with Lanza's body, a law enforcement official familiar with the investigation said. The weapons were legally purchased by Lanza's mother, the official said. Now it turns out that the rifle found in the trunk is not a Bushmaster at all, The police officer is, in gun owner's jargon, cycling a bolt to clear the weapon. An AR uses a charging handle. Here is the news report in

Pledge of Resistance Against Any Attemp to Disarm Us by Means of an “Assault Weapons Ban”

The Queen of Battle, and her modern descendants, are the birth-right of every American. “Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force: Whenever you give up that force, you are inevitably ruined.” – Patrick Henry My conscience, and the urgency of our current situation, compel me to speak out.  The victim disarmament freaks are now telling us that they don’t want to disarm us - oh, no!  They just want to take away our “assault weapons” – our semi-automatic, magazine fed, military-style rifles – and the “high capacity” magazines that feed them.   They want us to believe that so long as we can own some kind of firearm, after our semi-auto military rifles are taken, we are not disarmed.  That is a LIE. The truth is that our semi-automatic, military pattern rifles are the single most important kind of arm we can own , and are utterly necessary for effect

The scapegoating of Nancy Lanza

According to the script in progress, implicitly or explicitly, we blame Nancy Lanza for her son Adam's baffling rampage – if only for keeping five weapons in her home. Photograph: Reuters Photograph: Handout/Reuters Addressing the bereaved community of Sandy Hook last week , President Obama read the names of Adam Lanza's victims – all 26. On the one-week anniversary of America's second-most lethal school shooting, bells tolled across the nation – 26 times. But even omitting his suicide, the impenetrable killer's victims numbered 27. American education has not so deteriorated that even the president can't count. The discreetly deleted fatality was Adam's first and no doubt primary target: his mother, shot in her bed, four times in the head. Yet grief on Nancy Lanza's account has been stinting. With funerals of children and teachers standing-room-only, Nancy's service last Thursday drew a sparse two dozen relatives. R

Patriotic Millionaires Unmasked

Despite the breathless post-election "think pieces" that have drawn sweeping and deeply considered conclusions about the political drift of the country, at its core President Obama's re-election is easy to understand. He essentially promised millions of middle and working class voters that if he were to be re-elected, they would receive benefits paid for by the rich. You don't need to read a Time Magazine cover story to untangle this political strategy. Now that he has been given a second term, Obama needs to deliver the goods by raising taxes on the rich and only the rich. He will be "asking" them to pay their "fair share," (as if "asking" and "fairness" have anything to do with it). In reality the wealthy already pay taxes at a much higher rate than average Americans and in many cases will now have to pay more than half of their income in federal, state, and local taxes. While most people would assume that th

It Couldn't Happen Here, It Does Happen There The Value of American – and Afghan – Lives "Do you do this in the United States? There is police action every day in the United States... They don't call in airplanes to bomb the place." – Afghan President Hamid Karzai denouncing U.S. air strikes on homes in his country, June 12, 2012 It was almost closing time when the siege began at a small Wells Fargo Bank branch in a suburb of San Diego, and it was a nightmare. The three gunmen entered with the intent to rob, but as they herded the 18 customers and bank employees toward a back room, they were spotted by a pedestrian outside who promptly called 911. Within minutes, police cars were pulling up, the bank was surrounded, and back-up was being called in from neighboring communities. The gunmen promptly barricaded themselves inside with their hostages, including women and small children, and refused to let anyone leave. The police called on the gunmen t

Police officers put on notice in Indiana: If they illegally raid the wrong home, private citizens can shoot back

(NaturalNews) Most of us are supportive of our local police departments but because of a lousy state Supreme Court decision in Indiana last year, residents of the state now have the right to shoot at officers in defense of their property if they believe they are being improperly raided. Not surprisingly, most police officers are upset about the law, which was signed by Gov. Mitch Daniels in March, because they believe now it will be "open season" on law enforcement officers. But supporters say the law will encourage nothing of the kind. They say its sole purpose is to allow homeowners the same rights they've always had - to defend their property with deadly force, if necessary, even if that means defending it against "public servants" who illegally enter homes and automobiles. Here's how it all began. Learn more: http://www.naturalnews.com/036176_Indiana_self_defense_police_raids.html#ixzz1y9VDqFI3

Speeding Praetorians

If “speeding” – defined as driving faster than the legally posted maximum velocity – is necessarily “unsafe,” why do cops do so routinely? The answer, of course, is: Because they can . More precisely, they can do so with impunity. Who watches the watchmen, after all? Here is a recent – and particularly egregious – example: Denver cop Derrick Saunders was caught doing 143 MPH in a 55 – while legally drunk (.089 BAC). The repercussions? A 42 day suspension. At first, he was at least fired. But Saunders, who like a lot of cops apparently does not believe that “speed kills” when he is the one speeding - appealed his firing. And the police union backed him up. To repeat: a drunk cop doing 143 MPH in a 55 is demanding his job back. And the police union is helping him get his job back. The full story is here . Meanwhile, let’s consider what would have happened to a non-anointed Mere Ordinary in my own state of Virginia: Va. defines “reckless driving” as exceeding the posted maximu

Paul supporters turn out in force

The line to shake Ron Paul’s hand snaked down one hallway, up a flight of stairs, looped around a corner and down the length of another hall. It was early Saturday morning at the Minnesota Republican Party state convention and the Republican presidential candidate was giving some time back to the delegates and volunteers who had helped push his agenda – and his favored U.S. Senate candidate – to the forefront of the convention. “You’ve selected our candidate for Senate,” Paul told a crowd at a $20-a-plate fundraiser that raised at least $12,000 for the cash-strapped state GOP. “I think you’re doing a great job.” Paul supporters are hoping to fill the Minnesota delegation to the national Republican convention with as many like-minded Paul backers as possible. Paul, who has suspended active campaigning, but still hopes to shape the debate at the convention, cheered the state’s efforts. “I think this is one of the greatest states that I have witnessed, where I have seen t

Ron Paul speaks at UCLA - Draws over 7000 people

LOS ANGELES , April 5, 2012 — Ron Paul spoke at UCLA last night, and several thousand people showed up to create a scene that made Beatlemania seem tame. No one would have guessed that this man is trailing in all the presidential race polls. From an event standpoint, the speech at UCLA was a complete success. Dr. Paul knows how to galvanize people. But during his fifty-or so minute speech, not one minute was spent talking about the presidential race, which leads to a very important question that must be asked. If Dr. Paul can inspire such large, passionate crowds to hear him speak, why has he never won a single presidential contest? The lines were like those at a rock concert, stretching for long blocks of the campus to enter the Straus Stadium at the Los Angeles Tennis Center (LATC) where Dr. Paul was speaking. The campaign promoted the event as a Town Hall, not a campaign rally. Read more: Here

Ron Paul Wins the Backing of a Major Evangelical Leader

Kevin Derby's blog | Posted: January 12, 2012 11:53 AM As the race for the Republican presidential nomination heads to South Carolina, with its high concentration of military families and evangelical Christians, those voters will increasingly be the focus of the GOP hopefuls. U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas was able to score points with both of those key groups in an endorsement he received on Thursday from evangelical leader Rev. James Linzey, the president and founder of the Military Bible Association. The association helps military chaplains, provides Bibles to the military community and offers translations of the Bible. "Having thoroughly examined your political philosophy and finding that your platform is 100 percent in line with the Constitution of the United States of America, and examining your political record to find that you have consistently upheld the Constitution and thereby faithfully represented your constituency, and studying your statement of faith to find t

Ron Paul Campaign To Everyone But Mitt: Drop Out and Unite!

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire—Rep. Ron Paul's campaign called on the rest of the Republican field to drop out of the race and unite behind him in order to defeat Mitt Romney. “We urge Ron Paul’s opponents who have been unsuccessfully trying to be the conservative alternative to Mitt Romney to unite by getting out of the race and uniting behind Paul’s candidacy,” campaign chair Jesse Benton said in a statement. Read the full statement below: LAKE JACKSON, Texas – Ron Paul tonight scored an historic second-place victory in the 2012 New Hampshire Primary. Below please find comments from National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton: “Ron Paul tonight had an incredibly strong second-place finish in New Hampshire and has stunned the national media and political establishment. “When added to Paul’s top-tier showing in Iowa, it’s clear he is the sole Republican candidate who can take on and defeat both Mitt Romney and Barack Obama. “The race is becoming more clearly a two-man
